Easter Tips

We all know Easter, like any holiday, can become quite a feast. The Easter baskets, the family gatherings (really just a buffet at someones house, with an egg hunt thrown into the mix), the plastic eggs filled with candy, etc.

Here are some suggestions:

*Fill the easter baskets with dried fruits, whole fruits, and nuts, and popcorn? and healthy pretzels?
*before running to your easter basket in the morning, drink two large glasses of ice cold water and brush your teeth
*before going to the family buffet, make a healthy breakfast at home with the immediate fam (utilize those hard-boiled eggs!) to fill your bellies a little
*bring a few of your own healthy recipes to contribute to the buffet
*fill your plate mostly with the veggies and the fruits, and your own healthy recipes, and then fill your belly with them to fullness
*eat carrots all day and say you’re being a bunny?
*if you have any say in what goes in those colorful plastic eggs, suggest prizes over candy (stickers, mini army guys, coins, polly pockets…really anything small enough to fit)
* carrot cake isn’t great for you, but hey it’s better than those chocolate bunnies and peeps
*run around with the little ones on the easter egg hunts, and suggest a family easter walk around the neighborhood! we did this last year with the extended family and it was actually a lot of fun!!!
* if grandma guilts you into eating her awesome, perfect, scrumptious cookies….i dunno. run for the hills (just kidding), or grab a small one, and don’t beat yourself up.
*drink a lot of water
*if you’re going to binge, and there’s nothing healthy around whatsoever, don’t worry, it’s easter, there are hard boiled eggs somewhere. go for those. and no, deviled eggs DO NOT COUNT
*enjoy yourself

Juice Cleanse

I did a juice cleanse. After i watched “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead” I had to try it. Since, I have been really good about eating healthy lately (sticking to a diet consisting of mostly veggies, fruits, legumes, nuts, and seeds) and have dropped down to around 115lbs (my 8th grade weight, what???), i only did the juice cleanse for three days, which isn’t long enough, and am now back to whole foods. But, i plan to do a longer one soon. I recommend this cleanse. I really really do. It gives you energy, it cleanses your body of the bad things you may have put into it, and the pounds drop off like crazy (if that’s what you are looking to do).

ARIZONA ICED TEA IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUstop drinking it, stop listening to everything telling you that it is healthy, turn the can over and read the ingredients.unfortunately i can’t find an ingredients list anywhere posted on the internet (picture or text)……gee, i wonder why.high fructose corn syrup is pretty damn high up there on the ingredients list, yeah?and ingredients lists on our food packages go from highest percentage to lowest percentage, yeah?and i am aware of their “lite” and “diet” teas, but they’ve lost my trust.

Confusion about Corn Oil?

there is confusing about whether corn oil is good for you or bad for you.

i am sitting here with a tortilla chip bag that has three ingredients: corn, lime, and corn-oil. i am also sitting here with web pages about corn oil pulled up on my laptop. in the nutrition facts on the bag it says that there is 1gram of trans fat, and nothing about poly or mono-unsaturated fats, but a lot of websites are telling me that there is no transfat in corn-oil but lots of poly and mono-unsaturated fats. i’m thinking that the trans fat is from the corn and not the corn-oil, and that maybe the corn-oils amount of poly and mono isnt much so they didnt bother putting it on the label, but i’m not sure at all.

i’m confused. if anyone knows, send me an ask! ?

it’s not too great you guys. has been linked to certain cancers including breast and prostate. :( avoid it to the best of your abilities, and when you can’t—eat it in moderation. it’s in many things, so all together now READ.YOUR.LABELS.
